Now that Christmas break is over and duty calls again, maintaining a healthy lifestyle can be quite a challenge. Especially when you have a job that forces you to sit at your desk most of the day. Taking quick walks to the restroom or the coffee machine every hour will help you to stay active at work. Still those busy mornings, long meetings and afternoon brainstorm sessions can really drain your energy. Instead of grabbing sugary snacks that will actually drain your energy even more, try choosing healthy snacks from now. Here’s a list of ten healthy snacks that will boost your energy levels so you can stay productive all day long.
Remember how your mom used to stuff you with oranges whenever you were having a cold? It’s a fact that oranges are rich in vitamin C and that vitamin C supports the immune system. Still it hasn’t been scientifically proven that vitamin C can help prevent a cold or shorten its duration. It does have many other health benefits though. Since our body isn’t able to produce vitamin C on its own, it’s important to include foods that are high vitamin C into our daily diet. Yes, we need to consume vitamin C everyday since the vitamin can not be stored. If you’re having trouble eating your daily dose of vitamin C, try drinking it. Today I’m sharing a carrot grapefruit smoothie with ginger and turmeric that is loaded with vitamin C. Oh, and this smoothie can help you lose some extra weight too!
Usually I prefer to stay home on a Sunday, especially during the colder days. But last Sunday my boyfriend and I decided to go for a walk in the woods. However the weather started of good, the rain later that day made it feel very cold. But that didn’t stop us from having our Sunday Funday. Luckily we prepared ourselves and took an umbrella with us. Cause during fall season you never know when it might start raining.
Strolling through the woods was very relaxing. We were not the only ones who thought so, cause we had a hard time finding a parking spot. It’s very peaceful and serene in the woods and it’s a great place to clear your mind. A walk in the woods during fall season is even more exceptional. I love how in autumn the color of the leaves change from green to red, yellow and orange. Or how cool is it to see a mushroom popping out of the ground?! But nothing beats that deep earthy smell that gives you that calmness you’re looking for. Taking regular walks through the woods can have many health benefits for you.
When the sun is shining we all rather be outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. Spending hours in the kitchen to prepare dinner is such a waste of your summer. A fresh and filling salad is just what you need on a hot summer day like today. It’s healthy, light and easy to prepare. I can assure you that this salad will leave you feel full. Even my man felt satisfied after eating this salad and he is used to eating a lot! He actually said that he wanted to eat this salad a lot more often. Cause the combination of the sweet potato, grilled chicken and avocado is just delicious. And when you add the fresh dressing, it tastes even better!
One of the biggest challenges when eating healthy is to treat yourself while still sticking to your diet. Although some of us can feel pleased after eating some veggies, others just need that something extra. Like something sweet! That’s why I came up with a recipe that fits perfectly into a healthy lifestyle: a Quark Trifle with Exotic Fruit. This snack contains both carbs and lots of protein so it works great as a post-workout snack!
To celebrate World Baking Day I’m sharing a delicious baking recipe with you today. If you’re a big fan of chocolate I have some exciting news for you. What if I told you that you can have chocolate cake for breakfast but still stick to your healthy diet? Sounds amazing, right? Chocolate Banana Bread is the answer! My version is not only incredibly moist and yummy, it also fits perfectly into a healthy lifestyle! A good slice of chocolate banana bread serves as the ideal afternoon snack to deal with those horrible sugar cravings. It will make you feel full and satisfied for a long time.
Goodmorning everyone! Never have the time to eat a proper breakfast in the morning? With a little preparation this won’t longer be a problem for you. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. After sleeping for eight hours, our body needs an energy boost to start the new day. Also, breakfast activates your body’s fat burning mode. If you’re struggling to lose weight, try having a nutritious breakfast from now on.
My mornings are also very hectic so I usually have my breakfast at my desk. Not the most ideal option, but better to have a deskfast than no breakfast at all, right? On weekdays I often have oats for breakfast. Oats are very healthy, rich in fibers and minerals which keep you satisfied for at least a few hours. You can eat this inexpensive superfood raw or cooked. I prefer to eat them raw because it takes less time to prepare. Overnight oatmeal is my absolute favorite oatmeal recipe! It’s super easy to prepare and it doesn’t require much cleaning up afterwards. So you can just get it out of the fridge in the morning before you rush to work. Eating oats regularly also has tons of health benefits.
Today I have a delicious healthy smoothie recipe for you. This pink Raspberry Beet Smoothie will be a definite hit for your Valentine’s Day breakfast/lunch!
