Happy World Nutella Day to all Nutella lovers! That’s right, today isn’t just like any other day. It is World Nutella Day! On this annual holiday millions of Nutella fans across the world celebrate their love for the famous chocolate-hazelnut spread. So spread a thick layer of Nutella on a slice of bread or grab a spoon and eat Nutella straight out of the jar. Either way, today you don’t have to feel quilty about eating too much Nutella. In honor to celebrate World Nutella Day I have a delicious recipe for Nutella Puff Pastry Hearts that I would like to share with you. This recipe only requires three ingredients and includes warm puff pastry and melty Nutella. Hmmm, that sounds like the perfect winter comfort food to me!
Prep time: 10min
Baking time: ±15min
2 Puff Pastry Sheets (12 x 12cm)
3 tsp Nutella
First start by preheating the oven to 190 degrees Celsius. Then roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut out twelve heart shapes with a cookie cutter. Put 1/2 teaspoon of Nutella in the center of six hearts, but make sure to leave enough space on the edges so the hearts can be sealed. Next, place the rest of the hearts on top of the hearts that are filled with Nutella. Then seal each pastry by pressing down the edges with a fork. After sealing the pastries, place them on a baking sheet lined with greaseproof paper. Brush the tops with a thin coat of egg wash. This will give the heart shaped pastries a golden brown colour with a glossy finish. Lastly, place in the oven and bake for approximately 15 minutes until the Nutella Puff Pastry Hearts have become golden brown.
Important to realize is that every oven is different, so the actual baking time might be a little longer or shorter. Just keep close watch. After a few minutes of cooling, you can finally enjoy your Nutella Puff Pastry Hearts.
How are you going to celebrate World Nutella Day?
