Last week I picked up a box of charcoal pore strips from Action. The charcoal pore strips are from Alvira Skin Essentials: a skincare line that offers a extensive range of affordable products for beautiful and healthy-looking skin. Also good to know is that the complete line is dermatologically tested and largely free of parabens.
I heard a lot of good things about charcoal pore strips and after watching so many YouTube videos about it, I just had to try it myself. Especially with having combination skin I regularly get unpleasant surprises from blackheads that keep popping up on my nose. The charcoal pore strips from Alvira Skin Essentials claim to remove blackheads and cleanse pores. I’m very anxious to see if this product works.
“The charcoal pore strips from Alvira Skin Essentials remove blackheads, cleanse pores and is suitable for all skin types.”
When it comes to budget-friendly products you will never hear me complaining about simple packaging. Even though the packaging of the charcoal pore strips isn’t exactly an eye-catcher, it still has a fresh look to it. Also on the backside of the box you will find clear instructions on how to use the charcoal nose strips, which is a definite plus as well.
The charcoal pore strips from Alvira Skin Essentials come in a box with six pieces for €0,99. So that means only €0,16 per charcoal pore strip.
Over the years I’ve tried several pore strips from Action. Some of them were very effective while others didn’t remove any blackheads at all. So when I saw these charcoal pore strips for only €0,99 I thought it was worth a shot. Since I unfortunately do have a lot of blackheads lately I was positive that this product would at least remove a few of them.
First wash your face with lukewarm water and slightly moisten your nose with your fingertips. Then dry your hands and remove the plastic from the charcoal pore strip. Stick the backside of the strip to your nose and press firmly to your nose. After leaving the strip on your nose for 15 to 20 minutes it will become entirely dry. Pull your skin taut and carefully pull the strip of your nose in an upward movement.
Caution: Avoid use on sunburnt skin, damaged skin or skin with a lot of acne. Also avoid use on skin that is sensitive to adhesive strips, band aid or cleansing masks. If you find difficulties removing the strip from your nose, moisten te strip and slowly remove it. Recommended use: once or twice a week.
So as expected the charcoal pore strip did remove a few blackheads but the results were nothing spectacular. Unfortunately I still had tons of blackheads left on my nose after removing the strip. Also it did hurt when I tried to remove the strip. After moisturing the strip with some water it got off easier.
Since the charcoal pore strip only removed a few of my blackheads I’m not really impressed by this product. Most of my blackheads were still left on my nose after using the pore strip. Therefore I’m scoring the charcoal pore strip from Alvira Skin Essentials a 4 out of 10.
